Calculating radiator or heating length is a subject that everyone who is considering installing a heating boiler or combi boiler should have a little knowledge of. A small calculation about the radiator length calculation will ensure that the installation you will make and the heating boiler you will choose are selected correctly.
Fundamentals for Radiator Length Calculation
Practical radiator size calculation: 22 types of panel radiators, 1 meter in length and 60 cm in height, heat an average of 9-12 m² area. When calculating the radiator length, we can take this figure as 1 meter radiator for an average area of 10m².
How many calories does a panel radiator give off? A 22 type honeycomb with a length of 1 meter and a height of 60 cm gives 1800 kCal/h of heat. The heat given by the heater cores may vary according to the models.
Radiator selection with cubic meter calculation: Heating can be provided with an average of 45 kCal/h energy consumption per 1m³.
1 meter radiator can heat the indoor area between 9-12m². The variability of this data is due to factors such as the location of each house, its north-south façade, whether there is a mezzanine or not. In addition, the calorie given varies according to the selected panel radiator brand and model. You can use the following calculations when determining radiator prices.
The height of the apartments is generally accepted as 2.70 m. In high ceilings, volume calculation will give more accurate results instead of practical calculations.
Square Meter Calculator
You can use the square meter calculation tool below to calculate the m² of the house where you will calculate the heating boiler or floor heating. How to calculate square meters;
How to Select a Radiator with Practical Heat Loss Calculation?
- When calculating heat loss, first of all, the sitting area should be calculated.
- Per cubic meter; One of the values of 1st zone:30 kCal/h, 2nd zone: 45 kCal/h, 3rd zone: 60 kCal/h, 4th zone: 70 kCal/h is selected according to the zone condition of the flat to be heat loss.
- If the place to be heated is BODRUM, TERRACE or ROOF floor, 15 kCal is added to the values selected above.
E.g;
What is the heat loss of a 6×4 m² hall on the 2nd floor of a 4-storey building in Ankara (2nd district)? (Let's take the floor height as 3.)
Area: 6×4=24m²
2nd region value: 45kcal h=3m
Heat loss: 24x3x45=3240 kCal
Let's assume that a Masstherm brand steel panel radiator will be used for radiator selection for the same space;
A Masstherm brand Type 22 PKKP 600x1000 radiator has a heating value of 1550 kCal/h for 70/50 °C.
3240/1550=2.09 m. Well; TYPE 22 PKKP 600x2100 mm radiator is selected.
Panel Radiator Selection with Practical Calculation Formula:
Rl=Radiator Length(m)
Ov=The Volume of the Room(m³)
Oc = Condition of the Room (If it is facing north: 60, 40 in other directions.)
Rc=Radiator Calories (2300 if PKKP 600, 1850 if PKKP 500)
Rl=(Oh*Od)/Rk
E.g;
If the room faces north and is 3 meters by 4 meters long, 3 meters high, and suitable for the use of 600 radiators;
Oc=3*4*3=36 m³
Rl=(Oc*Ov)/Rc
Rl=36*60/2300=0.93, that is, 1 meter of radiator is sufficient.
*The calorie of the radiator may vary depending on the brand.
In general, in the most practical way, a 1 m long 60 cm high 22 type panel radiator heats 10 m² of space. You can evaluate the rooms, hall and living room of your house according to this calculation. Whatever the result is, you can provide a more efficient heating by calculating 20 cm long heater radiator length.
